"No matter how much debate occurs the truth is not necessarily reached." That is exactly what has been happening since the beginning of feminism. Feminists have been so busy arguing over who is right and who is wrong, that a truth has not been found. There must be something wrong with the current forms of feminism, otherwise, a truth would have been found. So what is wrong with feminism? What is good about it? How can we make it better? I agree with Postmodern Feminism the most, and it is my belief that the reason why feminism has failed in the past is that it has looked at 'gender equality' and not social harmony. Most forms of feminism today are wrong in some sense, but all of them disagree with each other. (Note: This essay will only focus on the problems between Radical and Liberal Feminism, though it is my belief that others have problems of equal or greater magnitude). Radicals and Liberals quarrel the most, for their arguments fit today's concerns. Liberals think, "…radical feminism is based on mysticism…[and] has little to offer women in post-industrial society". Liberals are highly concerned about the reputation of feminism. According to Matt Stannard, Liberals say that a male backlash may occur if Radicals give to men the idea that all feminists are militant femi-nazis. (Read more...)
