[ Libertad! ]

The air here is thick with tension. Everyday we look outside the window from Torre Camoruco on the Bolivar Avenue to see if there is a protest and if there is public transportation. Most of the people in my office cheer on the protestors and wish they could go down to support the cause. Others make jokes about the situation. Venezuelans are very jovial and for the most part look for the funny side of things. I stand in neutral ground, comparing what I know to what I am experiencing reserving my opinion.

The closing of RCTV is a violation to people everywhere. Freedom of expression is a right. On my way to work I see painted cars protesting the closure, I choke in the feeling of standing aside of the issues. The students in their romantic view of life, and their passion for it, scream and march to get the point accross. Lately, Chavistas have started defending their leader and attending the marches in opposition. Which creates a new problem that makes brother and brother fight against each other.

So much has happened so far, and yet this is just the beginning. And hopefully the beginning of the end to Chavez.
