[ cedula ]

If you are a foreigner trying to get ID in Venezuela, brace yourself for an endless saga. Everything you hear at the windows is NO, NO and NO. No help is offered and you are better off finding out about it on the web, than asking a goverment worker.


I´ve been here for awhile and have been avoiding getting an ID, but in order to work, get a bank account and walking around, you need a cedula in Venezuela. Everything started on a friday, I travelled at 4 am, embarking in a 2.5 hour trip to Caracas. The government offices open at 8 am, therefore an arrival of 6 or 7 am seemed ok, not so.
